Hong Kong pilots stuck in 'perpetual quarantine' due to strict Covid rules

홍콩 파일럿 엄격한 코로나 조치로 '빈번한 격리' 

 

Pierre(name changeed), a pilot with Hong Kong's flagship carrier Cathay Pacific, told the BBC that he has spent almost 150 days in isolation this year alone.

홍콩의 대표 비행사인 케세이 퍼시픽에서 파일럿으로 일하고 있는 피에르 씨는 BBC와의 인터뷰에서 올해만 150일 가량을 홀로 고립되어 지냈다고 토로했다. 

 

Even though Hong Kong has recorded barely any local coronavirus cases in recent months, the city has imposed an extensive testing and quarantine regime, in line with mainland China's zero-Covid policy.

홍콩의 코로나 지역 확진자가 최근 거의 나오지 않고 있음에도 불구하고 홍콩은 광범위한 코로나 검사와 격리정책을 부과받고 있는데 이는 중국의 제로-코로나 정책 방침으로 인한 것이다.

 

Pilots are not exempted from these rules. They include potentially being sent to a government facility - like the controversial Penny's Bay quarantine centre that has been criticised for its living conditions.

파일럿도 이러한 정책에서 예외로 인정되지 못했다. 파일럿들은 대개 예의 페니베이 격리센터와 같은 국가 시설으로 보내지게 되는데, 해당 시시설은 주거 악조건으로 비판을 받은 바 있다.
